Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, along with Boston's Mayor Thomas Menino, used Baltimore as a model city as when they formed the Food Policy Task Force at the U.S. Conference of Mayors in January.

High Protein Diet Linked To Bay’s Poor Health

The so-called Chesapeake pollution diet, or Total Maximum Daily Load, is aimed at trimming the amount of nitrogen and phosphorus that enters the estuary, where they spur the growth of huge algae blooms that foul the Bay's water.

Bikes on the Move

Earlier this week, Governor Martin O’Malley officially kicked off Bike Month with the announcement of seven winners of the Maryland Bikeshare Program grants. As part of the O’Malley Administration’s Cycle Maryland Initiative, the grants totaling $2.5 million are designed to “help Maryland communities plan, establish or expand bikeshare programs,” according to a press release from Cycle Maryland.
