Baltimore is one of the most progressive cities in the country when it comes to tackling the issue of food insecurity. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, along with Boston's Mayor Thomas Menino, used Baltimore as a model city as when they formed the Food Policy Task Force at the U.S. Conference of Mayors in January.

Earlier this week, Governor Martin O’Malley officially kicked off Bike Month with the announcement of seven winners of the Maryland Bikeshare Program grants. As part of the O’Malley Administration’s Cycle Maryland Initiative, the grants totaling $2.5 million are designed to “help Maryland communities plan, establish or expand bikeshare programs,” according to a press release from Cycle Maryland.
